In a small cellar in the heart of Puligny-Montrachet, Domaine Thomas-Collardot is making some of Burgundy’s most exciting, under-the-radar artisanal whites. Jacqueline Collardot and her son Matthieu took over her family’s tiny 2.5ha estate in 2010, introducing organic farming and horse-ploughing to the vineyards, and produced their first vintage in 2015.
From Bourgogne Blanc through a range of village vineyards to some of Puligny’s best 1er Crus, Jacqueline’s expressive, mineral-driven style is rapidly gaining the recognition it deserves.
As village vineyards go, ‘Les Enseignères’ (made famous by the widely celebrated Domaine Coche Dury) is one of the best in the Côte d'Or: located directly beneath Grand Cru Bienvenue-Bâtard-Montrachet, this parcel produces a beautifully balanced Puligny and Jacqueline’s is one of the most overperforming wines of the lieu dit.
The classic Puligny perfume of white blossom and citrus is matched by a fuller apricots-and-cream note in the mouth. Rich and vibrant with a lovely chalky minerality.
