It’s difficult waxing lyrical about Champagne without sounding like the over-privileged love child of Imelda Marcos and Jacob Rees-Mogg, but it’s undoubtedly one of the most improved, and exciting, wine regions in the world. From small family-run ‘grower’ domaines to the large Grandes Marques, Champagne has been reinvented as a ‘serious’ fine wine like Burgundy or Bordeaux, rather than just a luxury good.
