Inspired by the wines of low-intervention pioneers Jean Foillard and Yvon Métras, Philippe Viet has hit the ground running from the first vintage with his joyful and utterly delicious Cru Beaujolais.
After apprenticing with Eric Janin at Domaine Paul Janin in Moulin-à-Vent, Philippe established his own domaine in Villié-Morgon in 2019, where he farms 5ha of 50-year-old vines across lieu-dits in Régnié, Fleurie, and Morgon.
Worked without chemicals from day one, Domaine Viet’s vineyards are now in the process of organic certification. Made using whole-bunch fermentation, gentle extraction, and minimal sulphur, Philippe crafts Gamays with a sensual fragrance and juicy fruit character.
Grown at 500m on Régnié’s granite-rich soils and aged in a combination of amphorae and stainless steel, Haute-Ronze ‘Mosaïque’ is generous and silky, its brambly fruit laced with rose petals. Philippe’s Fleurie-Poncié brims with red cherries and sweet spices, while his Morgon ‘Corcelette’ shows structure and power, offering dark fruit and mineral accents.
Delivering that rare combination of immediacy and ageing potential, Philippe’s wines are perfectly suited to the table or the cellar – especially in magnum.
Blackberries and cherries layered with smoky mineral accents. Drink to 2036.
