The Jura has become a treasure trove of blink-and-you’ll-miss-them micro-domaines crafting thrilling, Burgundy-inspired whites and delicious local specialities alongside the region’s historic winemaking families. A newcomer operating under the radar, Cédric Mottet’s terroir-focused bottlings immediately caught our attention as the next must-have for Jura-philes.
After a stint in the music industry, Cédric returned home to train under Jean-Michel Petit of Domaine de la Renardière before establishing Domaine des Notes Bleues – named as a nod to his love of jazz.
In 2017, Cédric purchased a small plot of vines from elite Jura vigneron Stéphane Tissot, as well as a further 3ha of old-vine parcels around Arbois and Mesnay. Inspired by Tissot’s parcellaire approach and Petit’s quality-first, biodynamic winemaking, Cédric crafts tiny quantities of site-specific wines from organically farmed local varieties. After ageing in large Burgundy barrels, his wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Savagnin Ouillé (non-oxidative) from young vines in 'Les Sarres' in Buvilly at 300-400 altitude and aged in ex-Bordeaux Blanc barrels for two years. Super focused with crystalline citrus fruit and herbal freshness.
