Brothers Romain and Jean-Guillaume Chapuis are creating affordable marvels across a swathe of Burgundy’s lesser-known appellations – from Bourgogne-Montrecul in the north to Bouzeron in the Côte Chalonnaise – as well as prized family vines in Grand Cru Corton-Charlemagne and 1er Cru Aloxe-Corton.
In 2009, the brothers started their own négociant domaine sourcing fruit from organic growers and began to acquire vineyards of their own from 2014. With vinifications taking place in their new cellars in Ladoix-Serrigny, their wines are fermented using natural yeasts and minimal added sulphites, before being bottled without fining or filtration.
Beloved by Beaune restaurateurs for their eye-popping aromatics and approachability in youth, the Chapuis’ wines are a joy to behold.
From vines between Chorey and Aloxe-Corton. Spends 11 months in old oak. Juicy black cherry (showing that gorgeous whole-cluster character) and woody spice. Very silky.
