A Burgundian who started out as an agent for some of the region’s most famous names – Coche-Dury, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Arnaud Ente – Fabien Duperray only started life as winemaker at the end of the 2000s, but his Jules Desjourneys wines are already in the top echelon.

Fabien farms 7ha of gnarly old Gamay vineyards (some over 140-year-old) in Chénas, Fleurie, and Moulin-à-Vent, which he rates as Beaujolais' finest terroirs. Farming follows biodynamic principles, work is done by hand, and, although older vintages were raised for 24 months in barrel, since 2015 Fabien has phased out oak in order to create the purest wines possible.
