Kutch Chardonnay 'Sonoma Coast' 2015

“I wake up and think wine. I go to bed and think wine.” Bored of his corporate job as a NASDAQ trader, Jamie Kutch would spend much of his free time tasting and buying bottles, chatting with other Pinot geeks on Robert Parker’s bulletin board, and even experimenting making wine from juice concentrate in his apartment.
Given his winemaking break in 2005 by Michael Browne of acclaimed California winery Kosta Browne, Kutch rapidly became known for crafting bright, dynamic wines that helped change the definition of Sonoma County Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Sourced mainly from Bohan Vineyard – a cool, rocky site planted in 1972; ancient by Californian standards – Kutch’s 2015 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay is all about aromatic lift and drive, its salty, coastal-influenced fruit profile not dissimilar to a Grand Cru Chablis in its razor-sharp elegance. 94 points, Vinous.
