A bright young star in Champagne hailing from a farming family that traces its vinous roots back to 1795, Flavien Nowack is an exceptional young winemaker crafting beguiling, terroir-focused wines in the Vallée de la Marne.

After studying under Emmanuel Brochet and taking over the Nowack family estate in 2001, Flavien now tends 7ha of Pinot Meunier, alongside a little Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the village of Vandiéres using biodynamics and a low-intervention farming approach.

Pressed gently and fermented with native yeasts, Nowack’s wines undergo extended ageing in barrels on their lees before disgorgement and bottling with low dosage. The result is an assortment of sinewy single-site, single-vintage Champagnes that marry immaculate fruit with laser intensity.

Nowack’s ‘Les Bauchets’, ‘La Tuilerie’, and ‘La Fontinette’ demonstrate the differences between Champagne’s three main grape varieties grown at the same elevation, while the umami-driven ‘Les Arpents Rouge’ – made under flor with zero sulphur – and Cru d’Origine range puts Flavien squarely among the region’s new generation of brilliant experimental growers.

With just 2,000 bottles of each cuvée made and Nowack’s allocation being increasingly sought after, we can offer just one bottle of each wine per customer.

A single parcel of Chardonnay. Aged 36 months on lees. Tense, focused, and textural – peach, nectarine, and spice.
