Juan Antonio Ponce 'La Casilla' 2021

No one would blame you for never having heard of Bobal, despite it being Spain’s second most-planted red grape variety until recently. Long derided as nothing more than a blending component for bulk wine, its reputation is being transformed by skilful vignerons farming some of central Spain’s oldest vineyards. Juan Antonio Ponce is Bobal’s top boy, making wines full of pure dark berries and herbal freshness with beautifully plush tannins, like the single-vineyard ‘La Casilla’.
