Inspired by his numerous trips to the Côte d’Or (including ten vintages spent working with Jacques Seysses at Domaine Dujac), former Bannockburn winemaker Gary Farr crafts tiny quantities of out-of-this-world Australian Pinot Noir made along Burgundian lines.
Gary and his son Nick farm 11ha of densely-planted vineyards in the Moorabool Valley just outside Geelong and adjacent to his old Bannockburn stomping ground. Fruit is harvested by hand, fermented with up to 50% whole clusters, and then aged in new French oak for 18 months.
Invitingly perfumed with an abundance of juicy, spice-driven fruit alongside polished tannins, New World Pinot Noirs rarely get more finessed than these.
From the exposed Côte vineyard rich in clay soils. Pure and spicy, showing deep, dark berry notes and cooking spices. Rich and layered, complex forest floor and woodsmoke notes emerging with time in bottle.
