Read the press on English wine and it’s all about lavishly funded, technology-driven wineries taking on the big Champagne brands. But a small Wiltshire farm is producing the most engaging, authentic English wines we’ve tasted — and doing so with a small-scale, artisanal approach. The winery at Cranborne Chase is home to not one but two brilliant wine projects. Domaine Hugo is one of very few biodynamic vineyards in England. The Hugo sparkling wines are the English equivalent of a true, fine grower Champagne. In the same winery, Daniel and Nicola Ham make a series of small-scale cuvées from organic fruit grown in Hampshire, Kent and Essex. This is your chance to taste the future of English wine, with a selection spanning both labels, presented by Hugo Stewart and Daniel and Nicola Ham themselves.
