Before the modern natural wine movement and cult producers, there was Chateau Musar - a Lebanese icon that seduced legions of fans with its highly distinctive, long-lived and, yes, naturally made wines. Musar is one of wine’s great survivors, heroically persisting despite commercial pressures and many years of civil war, often continuing to cellar and sell back vintages for upwards of 50 years. At this tasting we will be pouring six vintages of Chateau Musar Red going back to 1981, as well as an aged example of the equally idiosyncratic, ageworthy white.
We will taste:
Musar Blanc 2009
Musar Blanc 1994
Musar Rouge 1998
Musar Rouge 1996
Musar Rouge 1989
Musar Rouge 1988
Musar Rouge 1987
Musar Rouge 1981
