Cantina Bartolo Mascarello is one of Barolo's greatest producers. The late Bartolo Mascarello was an arch-traditionalist, who refused to countenance innovations such as barriques, sticking to long fermentations and ageing in Slovenian oak botti. Bartolo's daughter Maria Teresa still makes her wines in the most traditional way. These are pure, single-varietal wines that gracefully express a sense of place and vintage, rightly ranked with the finest in Piedmont.
