Benoît Moreau Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Rouge 'La Cardeuse' 2023

The Moreau brothers, Benoît and Alex, made Domaine Bernard Moreau into one Chassagne-Montrachet’s most lauded names. In 2020, they divided the vineyards between them to go it alone, with Benoît taking four hectares in prime sites. His wines have proved worthy successors. These are stellar Burgundies from one of the Côte de Beaune’s most dedicated and talented vignerons. A new allocation is available now.

Benoît is a proponent of biodynamics and cutting-edge farming methods such as tressage (the complex practice of braiding the vine canopy). His whites are pressed slowly and fermented with indigenous yeasts, before spending 18 months in barrel. They are seductive, softly textured wines, underscored with incredible energy. Light infusions produce fine-boned reds of great freshness and elegance.
