Macle Côte du Jura Chardonnay Sous Voile 2015

An undisputed master of Château-Chalon, Jean Macle was a linchpin of the previous generation – alongside Pierre Overnoy and Jacques Puffeney – who championed a quality of farming and winemaking that has practically become standard in the Jura today.

Domaine Macle’s Chardonnay Sous Voile is made from vines on Château-Chalon’s north-facing slope. Although aged oxidatively under flor for three years, it is marked by Macle’s typically restrained and elegant style – the result, Jean’s son Laurent maintains, of long, slow ageing in the domaine’s labyrinth of 17th century cellars.

Like many family-run Jura domaines, the Macles sell practically all their production to private customers, so this small parcel of perfectly stored and ready-to-drink 2015 Chardonnay Sous Voile is an opportunity too good to miss.
