The Seysses family are relative newcomers in the scheme of Burgundy’s long history, but Domaine Dujac has reached world-class status quicker than ever could be imagined.

In 1967, Jacques Seysses – the son of a wealthy biscuit manufacturer – purchased Domaine Graillet in Morey-Saint-Denis and gradually grew the vineyard holdings to include an array of well-positioned sites in Echézeaux, Bonnes Mares, and Clos de la Roche. An unfathomable task now, even with deep pockets.

Today, Jacques’ sons Alec and Jeremy tend vines across 15.5ha (all biodynamically farmed since 2009) with Jeremy’s wife Diana taking charge in the cellar. While the domaine has dialled back its use of stems and new oak in recent years, Dujac’s style has always been one of elegance and poise, its wines seducing drinkers with soaring perfumes and silken viscosity.

"Slightly darker fruit than the Clos-Saint-Denis; hints of kirsch and orange rind emerge with time. A 'stout' Grand Cru, solid with blackberry laced with graphite towards the finish. Drink 2028-2050." 95 Points, Vinous
