Jonathan Maunoury is building a reputation for authentic, great value bottles in Saumur’s Le Puy-Notre-Dame.
A chemist-turned-winemaker who has worked alongside some of France’s finest vignerons including Marc Angeli, Pierre Gonon, and Vouette et Sorbée’s Bertrand Gautherot, Jonathan took over 5ha of organic vines southwest of Saumur in 2017, converting the estate to biodynamics on his arrival.
Jonathan farms local varieties Cabernet Franc, Pineau d'Aunis, and Grolleau, as well as Chardonnay – a legacy of local Crémant production in the 1970s. He combines rigorous scientific know-how from his previous career with a low-intervention approach to craft deliciously vibrant wines bottled without fining or filtration.
Drawing on stellar winemaking experience, Jonathan is among the Loire’s most exciting new artisanal talent. These bottles excel in value and charm.
The weightier ‘Sarrandières’ layers the freshness of Pinot d’Aunis with Cabernet Franc’s savoury and mineral tones.
