Domaine des Ardoisières Saint-Pierre-de-Soucy 'Argile Blanc' 2022

The brainchild of Michel Grisard – founder of the seminal biodynamic estate, Prieuré St Christophe – Domaine des Ardoisières has restored the abandoned vineyards and terraces above the Savoie village of Cévins. Between 1998 and 2002, Grisard planted 6ha of local varieties on steep, south-facing schist slopes to make blends in contrast to the single varietal wines that were the norm for the region. Brice Omont took over in 2010 and continues to craft highly expressive, biodynamic wines of crystalline purity and glacial freshness. Aged in fibre glass for nine months, this offers both weight and tension, with pure fruit and an intensely mineral smoky-saline character.
