Camille Thiriet

Mention Côte de Nuits-Villages and Camille Thiriet lights up. “It’s an amazing and underrated appellation” she says. Camille is one of a number of new Burgundy producers elevating humble appellations to the heights of the classics. The wines she and her husband Matt Chittick make from parcels around Comblanchien are some of the most exciting Burgundian discoveries we’ve made. A fresh allocation has just arrived.

Raised in Paris, Thiriet moved to Burgundy in 2008, followed by her parents, who bought a large house above the village, Château de Comblanchien, to run as a bed and breakfast. Initially producing some cuvées from bought-in fruit, Camille’s domaine-grown Côte de Nuits-Villages wines soon became her focus. In 2022 she and Chittick pulled off a coup by purchasing Domaine Gilles Jourdan in Corgoloin, significantly expanding their vineyards and winery. This, combined with the mentorship of Bernard Noblet, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti's retired chef de cave, has pushed Thiriet's wines up another level.

Drawing on her experience at Domaine de la Côte in California and Matt's role as winemaker at Domaine de Villaine, Camille vinifies each tiny parcel separately. The reds combine gorgeous whole-bunch perfumes with silky tannins and fine, mineral detail, while whites are beautifully balanced and full of energy.
