Yarn

Selosse, Agrapart, Prévost, Egly-Ouriet... that's what you get if you ask Tommy Grimshaw to name the producers he admires - the kings of Grower Champagne. These names are the key to understanding Yarn - a brilliant English wine project from Tommy (head winemaker at Langham in Dorset) and his old mate Ali Fraquelli (assistant winemaker at Jim Barry Wines in South Australia). Tommy and Ali are serious about top Grower Champagne. They are also convinced that, with the same uncompromising approach to quality, English wine can match it. For fans of artisanal sparkling wine, Yarn is the most ambitious and exciting project in England

Tommy and Ali started out in wine together, and Yarn is their chance to collaborate again in the way they’ve always wanted to. That means applying the Grower Champagne template to English wine - with no compromises. To keep quality at its maximum level, a Yarn release is limited to 1,000 bottles, with the fruit coming from a single grower - selected each year according to the vintage. Taking their cue from the best Grower Champagnes, winemaking is oxidative and low-intervention, with wild yeast fermentations, oak ageing, and no fining or filtration. The result is a low pressure English sparkling wine with great richness and depth, tempered by a natural freshness.
