Since moving from Haute-Savoie to Burgundy in 2008, Adrien Berlancourt and his father Pierre have quietly established one of the region’s smallest and most exciting micro-domaines from unassuming Bourgogne vineyards between Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet.

Inspired by his time working alongside Etienne Sauzet and Jean-Louis Trapet and guided by his father’s friends Jean-François Coche-Dury and ex-DRC winemaker Bernard Noblet, Adrien lavishes his 1.5ha of vines on the Puligny-Montrachet plain – an area also farmed by Arnaud Ente, Leroy, and Sauzet – with the same care and attention as many other top domaine’s Grand Cru plots.

Adrien vinifies tiny yields (sometimes as low as 9hl/ha) of top-quality fruit with indigenous yeasts and, after a long elevage of almost two-and-a-half years in an assortment of new and old wood (including top-of-the-range François Frères barrels), his wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered. Released only when ready to drink, Berlancourt’s spectacular cuvées show extraordinary depth and texture, as well as an uncommon ability to age for their ‘humble’ Bourgogne appellation status.

With just 300-400 cases produced in total each year, the domaine’s bottles usually get snapped up by in-the-know drinkers and, as such, are rarely seen on the UK market. Burgundy lovers won't want to miss out.

Astonishingly fresh – power and prettiness in spades: fine earth, rose petals, and freshly steeped cherry and raspberry tea. Delicate and deep, this is just about as profound as rosé gets.
