Vigneron Vincent Dureuil is a classic overachiever, crafting gorgeous wines from humble Rully terroir, and transforming his family’s estate into the leading name in the Côte Chalonnaise.
Domaine Dureuil-Janthial extends across the south of Burgundy around the village of Rully, as well as to two tiny plots in Puligny-Montrachet and Nuits-Saint-Georges. Rully is traditionally seen as humble terroir, where many growers long prioritised quantity over quality and sold their crop to negociants, but its south-easterly, clay-limestone slopes have much in common with the Côte d’Or’s best vineyards just a few kilometres north.
Dureuil’s meticulous farming and adroit winemaking is pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved here. Although best known for his single-vineyard Chardonnays, Dureuil is equally adept at red winemaking – a rarity in Burgundy.
