Jessica Litaud (2021)
A brilliant young talent in the Mâconnais, Jessica Litaud turned heads with her impressive maiden vintage in 2019. Scaling yet further heights, Jessica’s latest releases are among our favourite white Burgundies today.
After working with Jean-Marie Guffens and spending multiple vintages with Jean-François Ganevat in the Jura, Jessica returned in 2019 to take over her family’s 5.5ha of biodynamically farmed vines, including some of Pouilly-Fuissé's long-awaited 1er Cru vineyards: ‘La Marechaude’, ‘Sur La Roche’, and ‘Les Crays’.
Made with gentle pressing and extended elevage in old barrels, Litaud’s wines are characterised by their purity and fruit concentration, balanced by gentle oak and mineral nuances. In 2021 – an exceptional, if challenging vintage for Burgundy growers in which the domaine lost 60% of its production – Jessica’s wines combine wonderful tension and clarity.
Following in the footsteps of Jean-Marie Guffens, Jessica Litaud is demonstrating what can be achieved from ‘humble’ Mâconnais terroir. This is a world-class domaine in the making.
