Hubert Lamy

“Where Lamy is leading, others will surely follow […] This is one of the two or three finest sources of white Burgundy on the Côte de Beaune” – William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Olivier Lamy has forged a world-class reputation in the outreaches of the Côte d’Or, turning his family domaine into one of the jewels of Saint-Aubin.

After honing his craft at Vosne-Romanée’s Domaine Méo-Camuzet, Olivier took over from his father Hubert in 1995. He farms 18ha of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir across Saint-Aubin’s finest lieux-dits (the result of Hubert’s canny purchasing in the 1990s), as well as excellent plots in Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, and Santenay.

Since taking the helm, Olivier has become one of the region's most renowned viticulturalists, introducing higher density plantings, lower yields, organic farming, and pioneering high-trellised, untrimmed vine canopies (a method known as tressage). In addition, he is using larger barrels and less new oak to bring out the purity and elegance in his wines.

A blend of 10 plots across the appellation, the taut and energetic Saint-Aubin ‘La Princée’ offers a pretty citrus character with smoke and blossom inflections. From a south-facing 1ha parcel planted in 1964, the 2013 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru ‘Clos de la Chatenière’ is powerful and fleshy, its rich core lifted by saline minerality.

Although Olivier is predominantly known as a white wine producer, the quality of his reds has risen dramatically under the assistance of Marsannay’s Sylvain Pataille. The 2016 Santenay ‘Clos des Hâtes’ offers attractive red berry aromatics and a vibrant, peppery finish.

Domaine Hubert Lamy’s most prestigious labels now sell for over £1000 per bottle and his value-oriented appellations are becoming increasingly fought over and difficult to find. We are thrilled to offer this parcel of mature wines at the UK’s most competitive rates.
