Bernard Moreau

“The 2020 vintage has turned out brilliantly at Domaine Bernard Moreau – but what’s new? For my palate, the results are some of the finest wines produced on the Côte de Beaune” – William Kelley, Wine Advocate

For 22 vintages, brothers Alex and Benoît Moreau cemented Domaine Bernard Moreau as one of the Côte de Beaune’s most respected addresses. Since dividing their holdings in 2020, Benoît has turned heads with a sensational maiden vintage under his own name, while the family domaine continues to excel with Alex at the helm.

Using a combination of sustainable and organic farming methods, Alex tends 14ha of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir across Chassagne-Montrachet and Saint-Aubin, including distinguished 1er and Grand Cru sites acquired by his grandfather in the 1930s. In the cellar, fruit is gently pressed before fermentation and ageing in both old and new barrels.

A brand new cuvée for the domaine in 2020, ‘Les Terres Blanches’ is sourced from an assortment of lieu-dits across Saint-Aubin. Scented with grapefruit, jasmine, and smoky reduction, there is a lovely interplay between its silky texture and mineral tension. Already drinking beautifully, it should gain further complexity over the next decade.

With Burgundy’s growers increasingly at the whims of the weather gods and allocations fought over more fiercely than ever before, we are delighted to offer this parcel of top white Burgundy from an excellent vintage.
