Roagna Derthona 'Montemarzino' 2017

Although Roagna is famed for its elegant, perfumed Nebbiolo, Luca Roagna reminds us that the native white grape Timorasso is just as integral to the Piedmontese cellar. Inspired by Walter Massa – the great reviver of this rare variety – Luca brings his family’s long-established, artisanal approach to Montemarzino, a one-hectare plot in the Colli Tortonesi. Rich and supple, it shows notes of quince, citrus and wild flowers, and is streaked by saline minerality. With age, a Riesling-like petrol character emerges out of the ether.
