Nyetimber Classic Cuvée 2005

It’s widely held that English sparkling wine has come of age, but less is known about how well these bottles taste with maturity. Spoiler alert: it’s brilliantly. These perfectly stored library releases of Nyetimber’s Classic Cuvée – from 1998 and 2005 – have been slumbering in the producer’s West Sussex cellar for the past two decades. The 2005 is broad and rich, with ripe orchard fruits, vanilla custard, and almond pastry, but kept in check by the fresh, incisive acidity of the best English fizz.
