Marie et Pierre Bénetière Côte-Rôtie 'Cordeloux' 2001

Pierre Bénetières – alumnus of Georges Vernay – acquired 2ha of Côte-Rôtie in 1980 and has spent four decades achieving a sort of quiet superstar status. If a wino sees a bottle on a list or shelf, they buy it. Forget the ripe, ballsy style that has crept into this appellation – this is Syrah at its most effortless and graceful. Typifying the elegance of the 2001 vintage, ‘Cordeloux’ combines crystal clear black fruit, bacon, fleshy olive tapenade, and a gentle woodsmoke finish. All at a gentleman’s 12.5% ABV. Traditionally made, quintessential Côte-Rôtie of old.
