Jean-Marc Vincent Santenay 1er Cru 'Les Gravières' 2013
Regular price £48.005 bottles available – max. 1 bottle per order
Since 1997, Jean-Marc Vincent has gradually turned this humble Santenay property into one of the finest in the Côte de Beaune, crafting joyful wines that offer unrivalled value to those in the know.
Recovering prime vineyards that his family had rented out since the 1970s, Jean-Marc works across some of Santenay’s most respected 1er Crus, including ‘Beaurepaire’ and ‘Les Gravières’. A pragmatic, detail-focused farmer, he continually pushes the boundaries of modern viticulture. Jean-Marc is a proponent of tressage – the laborious and highly skilled practice of braiding the vine canopy, as pioneered by Lalou Bize-Leroy – optimising ripeness and minimising vine stress to grow top quality, organic fruit.
Just as Sylvain Pataille and Vincent Dureuil have transformed the reputations of Marsannay and Rully, Jean-Marc’s wines are resetting expectations of Santenay’s terroir in the eyes of Burgundy lovers.
Spiced fruit and sous bois notes come to the fore in this rich and velvety Gravières. With its sturdy tannins and fresh acidity, it gains weight and complexity with air. Drink to 2028.
