Eva Fricke Riesling Trocken 'Lorchhäuser Seligmacher' 2019

“Baby, don’t fear the Riesling”, Blue Öyster Cult may have sung had they been wine lovers. And they’d have been right: it’s usually dry, it’s great value, and it’s always delicious. Transforming the Rheingau into a destination for top-tier, ‘new-school’ Riesling, Eva Fricke is crafting wines of stunning fruit purity, laser precision, and finesse.

While working at Weingut Leitz, Eva began to acquire tiny plots of old vines around the town of Lorch and in 2011 launched her own boutique domaine. Starting with just 0.25ha, she now farms 17ha using sustainable and biodynamic methods to produce exquisite fruit. 

Her dry, single-vineyard wines are usually snapped up en primeur and by savvy sommeliers who favour these bottles for their gastronomic qualities, so we’re delighted to offer this parcel of Eva’s wines from the excellent 2020 vintage. If it’s good enough for the Cult…

There’s a rich, exotic weight to the fruit, while the slate-quartz soils from the Seligmacher bring further depth and intensity. Cool and bracing on the palate, with sherbet lemon acidity that fizzes and refreshes ad infinitum. Drink to 2040.
