Domaine de la Bérangeraie Cahors 'Cuvée Maurin' 2019

Domaine de la Bérangeraie is a family affair: Maurin Bérenger and his wife Marlène, sister Juline and her husband Henri have gradually extended their parents' original 20ha estate in Cahors to the modest 30ha it is today. A pioneer for quality-minded growing, this is one of the few properties in Cahors where all the vines are hand-harvested, while Maurin - as president of the grower's syndicate - has persuaded fellow farmers to reduce their maximum yields. Although 'Cuvée Maurin' has more structure and depth than Bérangeraie's other wines, it is nevertheless juicy and easy-drinking, with its soft prune and spice notes lifted by tobacco and cool menthol.
