Colle Florido 'Salvo' 2021

In Abruzzo’s vast ocean of mass-produced bulk wine, Colle Florido is a life raft. 

In 2015, Andrea Ugolotti – a former sommelier working at some of Europe’s starriest restaurants – and his wife, Daniela Trolio, decided to return to her hometown in the outskirts of Pianella to establish their winery and a new life.

Certified organic and using biodynamic preparations, they farm 3ha of Montepulciano and Trebbiano vines – some of which are up to 40-years-old – planted among wild mint, barley, and dandelions on biodiverse hillside plots at 250m above sea-level. 

Hand-harvested and fermented in a combination of stainless steel and wood in his tiny, converted garage, Andrea crafts charming, artisanal wines full of energy and lift.

‘Salvo’ is joyful and thirst-quenching, the result of a four-day maceration.
