Château de Bonnezeaux 'La Montagne' 2020
Regular price £41.00Limited availability - max. two bottles per order.
Château de Bonnezeaux is bringing the historic sweet wine vineyards of the Anjou back to life with its spellbinding, dry Chenin Blancs. Gaining a cult-like following, Guyonne Saclier de la Bâtie’s wines have garnered a must-have status almost overnight. Concentrated and richly layered, a result of meticulous late harvesting, they are balanced by Chenin’s hallmark acidity and saline minerality. ‘Frimas’ – an increasingly popular part-négociant cuvée – offers unrivalled finesse and value, but it is the single-parcel wines, ‘La Montagne’, ‘La Minée Haute’, and ‘Coquerie’ that are the apogee of the estate.
'La Montagne' is sourced from two plots of 40- and 70-year-old vines in the Coteaux du Layon. Concentrated citrus fruit and struck-match reduction. The intense flavours and slighty oily texture are braced by the focused, linear acidity and its deliciously savoury finish.
