Next Generation Burgundy CaseRegular price £295.00
Our first love will always be Burgundy; nothing quite compares to its great Grand Crus or humble, good-value outliers - these are some of our current favourite producers from the region.
Jobard will not be a new name to Burg-ophiles, but since Antoine took over his father's domaine in 2007 the wines are a little more sensuous and immediate - his Bourgogne Blanc is one of the best of the appellation. Guillot-Broux leads the way in the Mâconnais for natural winemaking; fleshy and concentrated, 'Les Genevrières' shares more in common with the wines of the Côte de Beaune than its southerly neighbours. Athénaïs de Béru is a rising star in and around Chablis: her Aligoté possesses that sublime combination of ripe, crystalline fruit, tension, and raciness.
Douhairet-Porcheret has quickly entered the top echelon in Monthélie and its 'Meix Bataille' is a serious, full-bodied and ample red that drinks a lot like 1er Cru Volnay. David Duband’s stellar Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru 'Les Broc' combines sumptuous, vivid fruit with just the right amount of tertiary savouriness. Finally, Clair Obscur's Maranges 'Sur le Bois Sud' is spicy, supple and charming - Pierre is among those launching Maranges into one of the best value, outlying appellations in Burgundy.
