Antonio Madeira Vinhas Velhas Tinto 2019

A rising star of the Dão wine region, António Madeira began life as a winemaker in 2010. Living in Paris during the year and using his holidays to make wine after harvest, he and his family moved back to the region in 2017. 

Using a biodynamic approach, António farms 8ha of vines across 20 plots. Working with the Centro de Estudos Vitivinicolas’ collection of old varieties and clonal material, he has set about on a massive replanting project in order to preserve the region’s variety of indigenous grapes.

A blend of over 20 native varieties from 70-to-100-year-old vines, this is rich and juicy, with layers of spicy complexity underneath its broad, dark fruit. Dried herbs and mineral nuances through to the finish.
