Arnot-Roberts Watson Ranch Chardonnay 2020

Arnot-Roberts (Nathan Roberts and Duncan Arnot-Meyers) are among the new wave of Sonoma-based producers redefining what we think of as typically Californian wines: freshness, rather than ripeness, is central to their approach. Watson Ranch is a steep, windy site at the southernmost point in Napa, which explains why this super-elegant, focused Chardonnay has much more in common with the wines of northern Burgundy than California. Citrus-rich and spiced, but with a tight mineral core, there's interplay between creaminess and tension.
